Friday morning I was sent to the Big Cove day care again. Emily came along too. We sang the kids favorite song, " If your Happy and You Know It" Then the leader of the group lead a bible story. It was the story of Noah and the Ark. Mina forgot her script and instead of only two birds coming back in the end, all three came back. But she did a great job, and the kids didn't notice. After that we all loaded up in our automobiles and drove to the Oconaluftee Village. A look at how the Cherokee really lived before, during and after settlers came to the New World. (the picture above is what they lived in with New World settlers influence.) It was so cool to see all the crafts and ways they lived. Finger weaving, carving, poettery, warriors weapons and dances and basket weaving. It was a great day and I'm feeling much better! Thank you for all your prayers!

Hi Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI am an Exhibit Design intern for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland, Oregon. My team is developing an educational exhibit that highlights the Cherokee, Tulalip, Umatilla, and Hawaiian indigenous communities in North America. Currently, our team is gathering images that illustrate important landscapes, plants, and animals to these indigenous communities. While we were searching for pictures that accurately depict the Cherokee area, we found your beautiful photograph of the Oconaluftee Indian Village here on your blog. We were struck by your image’s quality, and see great potential in its ability to convey the traditional homes of the Cherokee community. I would like to ask your permission to feature your photograph in our exhibit.
Please let us know if you are interested in sharing this image for OMSI’s informational exhibit about North American indigenous communities – and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have! Thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Mica
