"Write your stupid blog!" in the words of dear Emily (Roomate at Cherokee) She meant in a loving way. We're all exhausted. The atmosphere in the "Quad" is awake, but needing sleep. Emily is reading, AK is writing in her cool over sized journal, while I blog away. Today was pretty filled up. Woke up around 7 am had breakfast, and met the team I would be with. I went to Tsali Manor (Senior Activity Center) we played Bingo and handed out prizes. Some of the woman had 4 cards at a time. I had the bum card, and didn't even get close to winning. We later came back to camp for lunch, which was cold cuts and chips. I ate with a team from Alabama, they had two other Rebeccas on the team. I was referred to as Rebecca the intern. We traveled to Tsali Care, a Senior home where they live. We wheeled many ladies and gents to a big room lit up from a massive sky light. We sang hymns and visited with the residents. The activity of the day was making blankets with them. They (the Alabamians) called them lap throws, just for future reference. I sat with a woman named Diana, we made two blankets; you just tie the outer ends of the blanket together. She spoke of her daughter, and her two children. It was nice to just listen and be someone she could talk too. After we finished at Tsali care the team decided to go swimming in the creek. Keep in mind, I am a Florida girl, and we do not have creeks and "swimming holes," so you could say I was a girlish about getting in. I felt like a dork with my hot pink water shoes on. The water was freezing and I never went in. Hey, I have 6 weeks here! Don't panic, I'll make it into a creek sometime while I'm here. Dinner was good, fry bread with Chili, traditional Cherokee meal here. I stomach was bothering me today, because the lack of fruits and veggies. * IF YOU SEND ME A CARE PACKAGE, SEND FRUITS AND VEGGIES!!! STAT!* Kidding, really that would not work at all. After dinner- I think every night we have worship and a speaker comes in. Tonight Rick, a pastor on the Res. He spoke of not following this world, and being aware that he is COMING!! His purpose wasn't to frighten us, but to speak of the truth. How we should always read up of what was just taught to see and know his word. Prayer request: That I could have a heart like his. That he would use me for his glory and kingdom, also that I wouldn't be afraid of discouragement. Also for AK, that her heart would be in this ministry, not just going through the motions. And for Emily to not be afraid, an not worrying about being worrying. Will write again tomorrow. Sweet dreams, thank you for all the comments and support :)

  1. Hi Bec
Well, it sounds like you had a very busy first day on the Res...playing bingo, eating cold cuts and chips, making lap throws, poking your toe in the swimming hole...FYI we do have creeks and swimming holes here...you were just lucky enough to have a pool...or a cement pond as the Alabamians might say! If you don't get the swimming hole experience while you're there, we can just take you over to the creek by Gramma's house and you can jump off the railroad track bridge and go for a swim...lol!
Well, I can't imagine what will happen if you don't get some veggies soon. I will have to find something over at the vitamin store for you.
I will pray for you and Emily and AK.
Hope you had a great day today:)
    Love, Tracy
